Stop Wasting Perfectly Good Trees People

If you have picked up and leafed through any one of the twenty or so magazines and newspapers in and around the Upstate of South Carolina, I am sure you have noticed the common underlying theme. For the ten percent of the small business community that can afford expensive advertising, it is an unparalleled dive into Greenville's elite circle. For some reason, success is measured by what event you may have attended, or what local celebrity is in your print ad. I was lacking a deserving term for the people who waste trees with all of these rags, and the group of people who spend their money to be associated with them. After brainstorming for a while, I was able to generate nothing. Why, because that is basically what you get from all of them. I decided to adopt a word that Merriam and Webster deem worthy. SUPERFLUOUS.

Beginning in June, I am going on a mission. I am going to make it my goal to find every one of those rags and read them, cover to cover, and dissect them from a consumer standpoint. As a part of the RELATIVITY PROJECT 2010 I am going to get to the bottom of what is going with the marketing, advertising, social media and small business scene.

If you are a small business owner, social group, at-home dynamo, or just someone who has always had the drive, talent, passion and creativity, but lacked the ability to find yourself in a sea of overdoers, check out the RELATIVITY PROJECT 2010.

I JUST HAD THE MOST AWESOME IDEA!!

IF YOU HAVE EVER SAID THAT TO YOURSELF OR SOMEONE ELSE, YOU'VE TAKEN THE FIRST STEP TO ACCOMPLISHING YOUR GOALS.

SINCE LAST WEEK I HAVE HAD 342 GREAT IDEAS MYSELF.

WHATS IN IT FOR ME? I MEAN YOU!

I am inclined to think that most blogs regardless of subject matter or author, go completely unnoticed by mainstream society. I think that most people would rather watch to see what is happening on a trumped up fake reality show than actually watch the news. I am beginning to wonder if even Twitter, FB, Myspace and all of the other social networking sites has desensitized our brains. For as long as I have been blogging (or trying to) i have shared my posts on FB and Twitter, but it seems that for all of the followers and friends I have, none have time to stop in and read what I am writing, much less comment on it.

So, I have decided to start the RELATIVITY PROJECT 2010. Beginning next week, I am going to begin posting written, audio and video blog segments focusing on whatever may be going on for that particular day. If by some miracle of a chance you are actually reading this and may follow future blog posts, I would like for you to simply email me at richardbstarkey@gmail.com and send me one of the following things:

1. An honest, no holds barred comment

2. A photo or video of something you think is either relevant or blog-worthy ( I promise I will use it in my next blog and give you credit)

3. A fuck-off, get-a-life, your wrong because, or some kind of short

4. A dollar (not really, but if you want to)

In exchange for your contribution, I will continue the RP2010 and mention you or your blog in my posts.

So whats in it for you? You can get your creative juices flowing and be productive for a change.

Tech the Pinnacle Ultimate Studio 14

I decided to download the trial version of Pinnacle HD, to see if I could turn some of my 950 hours of raw video from mini-DV to workable format. I was stuck on Windows Movie Maker, because I could not convert the wma. and the wlma. formats to universal format.

Along comes the Pinnacle, and I am trying to learn it within the 15 day trial, so I can decide if I need to buy it.

Reactix Media is alive in Greenville!!!

For several years we worked with local businesses, churches and civic organizations to help relay the message that the importance of local business marketing is increasing faster than most of us realize. From our humble beginnings as DigitalRealm Media-LLC five years ago, Cory and I realized that to merely have a dream just isn't good enough. When we sold our successful business a few years ago we made a promise to ourselves that the goal of helping small business in Greenville would never die.

And now, in an economy more challenged than ever before, we are back again. It was after a long telephone conversation one late night that Cory and I decided not to just open up a new business, but to pick up the fight where we had left off a few years before. Looking back in retrospect, some of our competitors have gotten larger, and some are long gone. The ones' that are gone fell victim to the ones' that are bigger than ever. Success has been good to many web/media companies in Greenville, but at what cost? Has the idea and business model of how to succeed in this industry changed, not really. Have those who have reaped the rewards of timely advertising, willful baby-kissing, and more hand shaking than anyone should have to endure changed with the times? They better hope so.

As we roll through another turbulent year of economic growth, we want to be the only web/media company that never chooses to provide lackluster service, cookie cutter design service, or an inbox full of useless emails to bring you the results you expect and deserve.

If you are a small business in Greenville, SC or the Upstate, and have been searching for a way to improve your business, market your ideas, or simply become more visible, check us out at www.reactixmedia.com or give me a call anytime.

SO THE ADVENTURE BEGINS....

8 Reasons to not hire us

We have come up with the best 8 reasons that we could think of as to why you should not hire us for your next project……

You found a good deal somewhere else. Some other “awesome design studio” offered you “the works” for $300. What a deal! You think that we are way overpriced and you can basically get the same thing for $300 at the other place right?

You know that your cousin knows this guy that has a friend whose next door neighbor builds websites. You don’t need professionals when this guy will build “pretty much the same thing” for way less.

You are so sure that your entire customer base falls into that “20% or so” of people that do not use the internet that there is no way that a new website could bring in new customers for you. Your customers are more traditional and would never try to look you up online in their favorite search engine.

You like the “big image” look and feel. You know that huge design firm with the big office, and the high overhead, and the bloated design team right? I mean hey, bigger has to be better.

You bought one of those really cool “website design” packages didn’t you? “No coding required“, “up and running in minutes!“, “Be your own Webmaster!“. I bet you were thinking, “How hard can this whole internet thing be, huh?” Good luck with that one…..

So, as you can see, unless you fall into one of the above situations, we really need to talk. Give us a yell and we would be more than happy to talk about your ideas.
